Program Descriptions: Connecticut Nonpoint Source (Section 319) Grant Program: Provides grants for projects to control nonpoint sources of water pollution, with emphasis on implementation projects that address a documented nonpoint source-related water quality impairment identified on Connecticut’s list of impaired waterbodies.
Connecticut Sea Grant: Supports a broad range of applied research, education, and extension activities aimed at improving understanding, assessment, use, management, conservation, or restoration of marine and coastal resources. Dissolved Oxygen (DO) Fund: Supports water quality improvement projects or studies, nitrogen pollution control projects, habitat restoration, and land protection (including acquisition of natural habitats).
Long Island Sound Fund: Supported by the sale of Connecticut’s Preserve the Sound license plate, this program awards grants for outreach and education programs to increase the public's awareness of the need to preserve and protect the Sound, for efforts to increase public access to the Sound, for the protection and restoration of habitat essential to the Sound’s ecosystem, and for scientific research that provides clear direction for management decisions.
Long Island Sound Futures Fund: A partnership between the Long Island Sound Study and the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation that provides grants to organizations working on a local level to protect and restore the health and living resources of Long Island Sound.
Long Island Sound Study CCMP Enhancement Projects Grant Program: Provides grants for projects and studies that help implement the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP). Specific funding priorities are identified on an annual basis.
Long Island Sound Study Research Grant Program: A cooperative effort of the Environmental Protection Agency, Connecticut Sea Grant, and New York Sea Grant to fund research that helps meet the needs of decision-makers to improve the management of Long Island Sound.
Long Island Sound Study Small Grants Program: Provides grants for a variety of projects, programs, and products that educate and involve the public in the protection and restoration of Long Island Sound and its watershed. New York Sea Grant’s Research Grant Program: Supports scientific research that is driven by identified needs and provides enhanced opportunities for New York Sea Grant to ‘make a difference in addressing important coastal issues. New York State Water Quality Improvement Project Funding: Provides grants to municipalities throughout New York State for stormwater permit implementation, nonagricultural nonpoint source, water quality management, wastewater treatment improvement, and aquatic habitat restoration.
NY-CT Clean Vessel Grants Connecticut Clean Vessel Act Grant Program: Provides grants for the installation of marine sanitation device holding tank pumpouts, marine portable toilet holding tank dump stations and pumpout boats, and for the operation and maintenance of existing Marine Sewage Disposal Facilities in order to increase the availability and use of proper waste handling facilities for boaters. New York State Clean Vessel Act Information & Education Program: Provides grants for projects in New York State that promote the understanding, use and knowledge of pumpout stations. New York State Clean Vessel Assistance Program: Provides grants for the installation of pumpout and wash-down facilities that receive sewage from recreational marine vessels in order to increase the availability of proper waste handling facilities for boaters.
