107th Annual National Audubon Society Christmas Bird Count
Each year around Christmas, tens of thousands of Americans head to the woods, to the fields, to the shore and even to the local landfill in search of birds - - all to help scientists and interested citizens track bird populations in North America. Some participate without even leaving the comfort of their homes by counting the birds at their feeders. It's Audubon’s Annual Christmas Bird Count!

Whether you come across a Snowy Owl on a cold and

deserted beach or simply count the Ring-billed Gulls at your local shopping center, the Christmas Bird Count is a great way to connect with nature and help scientists better understand bird populations and migrations, or spot worrisome trends at an early enough stage to identify and correct threats to a given species.

For more information, visit the National Audubon Society's Christmas Bird Count web page. To find CBC sites in our area visit the CT Ornithological Association and the New York Ornithological Association.
